Below are several scenarios that Kaplan Consulting Network recently encountered followed
by some diagnostic questions that needed to be answered in order for change to take place.

A four-year-old organization is experiencing decreasing client satisfaction and growing employee
morale problems as the organization grows.
- What's different about the climate of the current organization versus the climate of the start up?
- How clear is the organization on its purpose and values? How has this changed since the early days?
- How is the organization structured to meet its goals now versus the early days? Are roles and responsibilities clear among units?
- Do employees have more or less freedom and creativity in the performance of their jobs? Are tasks more routine, more regimented than they were earlier?
- Are employees engaged and committed to the organization's goals? Are they competent? Are they performing at their max? If not, why not?
- Do individuals feel rewarded and recognized for their work and contribution? Are there opportunities for growth and career development?
- What's the make-up of the current organization? Does everyone look the same, in terms of race, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, educational background, etc.? How is difference managed?
- How is conflict handled in the organization?
- How has the leadership role in the organization evolved over time? What's the leader's style? Does it work in the new organization the way it did in the old? If not, why not? Is the leader aware of his/her strengths and weaknesses? Is the leader open to feedback?
- Has anyone asked the current staff how things are going? Would they answer honestly? If not, why not? How would that input be handled?
